Alexander holds a Master’s Degree in Agro ecology, a Bachelor’s degree in Organic Agriculture all from Uganda Martyrs University and a Diploma in Forestry from Nyabyeya Forestry College Masindi Uganda.
Currently, Alexander is working with Centre for Integrated Research and Community Development Uganda (CIRCODU) as a Director and Research Consultant in areas of Forestry, Energy and Agriculture close to 7 years.
Alexander’s day to day roles has been to coordinate Organization activities in research and consultancies. The number of Technical staff under his supervison has been 40 both full time and part time.
Furthermore, for over 8 years (2005-2012), Alexander worked with the Ministry of Water and Environment as a Forest Plantations Officer under a Commercial Forestry Project (SPGS) that was funded by European Union /Norwegian. Under this job, Alexander gained enormous experience in working with the Government Projects and Private sector i.e Policy guidelines, writing technical and financial proposals/reports. The Project created response for tree growing in Uganda with over 50,000ha planted in this period by about 300 private tree growers. Among the early milestones for Alexander was a being a Co-author of the first ever Uganda’s tree planting guidelines for Uganda 2004.
Earlier on from 2003-2005, Alexander’s first experience in the agricultural sector hinged on interaction with farmers in Kabale district Local Government when he worked with the National Agricultural advisory services (NAADS) as a Service Provider for 2 years. During this time, Alexander gained experience in working with local Government Projects, and the local community farmers. The major roles included; to advise and provide information, knowledge and skills to farmers on improved methods of farming and agricultural development, to report to the Sub-County Farmers Forum Executive Committee on the performance of agriculture in general and on the performance of the farmers’ groups in their areas of operation.
