He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Makerere University having researched on Epidemiology of Africa Swine Fever in Uganda and the factors responsible for its persistence.
From 2016-2018, Denis was a Post-doctoral fellow under the SIDA-Makerere University research collaboration 2015-2020 following on his doctoral research. He also holds a Master of Science in Veterinary Pathology and Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, both from Makerere University.
He also lectures at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (COVAB), Makerere University. He is a member of Uganda Veterinary Association and American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV). He is also a proud alumnus of Envirovet (an international ecosystem health program for young biologists, veterinarians, conservationists). In addition to research at CIRCODU, he has research interest in Wildlife pathology,and Wildlife diseases (Parasitology, infectious and noninfectious disease conditions). On wildlife pathology, he has participated in and has research interests in monitoring of Oil and Gas impacts on fauna in the Albertine Graben and studying mountain gorillas with the Gorilla Doctors
